On Three Posters (2004)

The film is based on "Three Posters," a multimedia performance created by Mroué and Lebanese novelist Elias Khoury, which premiered in Beirut in 2000. The performance features an unedited audio recording by Jamal al-Sati, a fighter with Lebanon’s National Resistance Front. It presents three versions of his martyr testimony—different from the approved version broadcast on Lebanese television. By examining these three versions, Mroué and Khoury explore the nature of suicide videos and martyr posters, and analyze the ideological factors behind their creation and significance in Lebanon's visual culture and political history.
