Description:
Facing his mortality, Gil Garcia confides in Father Wade, recounting his life's tragedy. As a child, Gil's father brought him to America, separating him from the girl he loved in Mexico. Soon after arriving, Gil became an orphan and was raised by his father’s friend, Dustin, along with Dustin’s son, Rod. Fifteen years later, Gil and Rod are still struggling to find their place, living at home and playing street basketball for money. When Dustin dies, they are left with an insurmountable funeral debt. Desperate, Rod proposes kidnapping for ransom. Gil knows the ideal target: a woman married to a wealthy man unlikely to jeopardize his family for the modest sum. However, Rod doesn't know that the woman is Desdemona, Gil’s childhood sweetheart from Mexico.
