Description:
In 2017, the town of Bisbee, Arizona, near the Mexican border, prepares for the 100th anniversary of the Bisbee Deportation of 1917. This event saw 1,200 striking miners forcibly removed from their homes and abandoned in the desert. To grapple with this violent and often misunderstood history, the community stages dramatic recreations of the events leading up to the deportation. These scenes are shaped by individual perspectives and conflicting viewpoints among the residents. Drawing on deeply personal family histories, the townspeople culminate in a large-scale restaging of the deportation itself, planned for the exact date of its 100th anniversary.
