Description:
Herb's life is falling apart. He's lost his government assistance, struggles to find work, has strained relations with his son, and endures a noisy neighbor and a poor diet of beer and mushy peas. He recognizes the hopelessness of his situation. A news report reveals that Danish prisoners enjoy significantly better conditions: employment, healthcare, peaceful surroundings, and even modern amenities like HDTVs. They seem to live comfortably. Determined to escape his reality, Herb leaves his rundown apartment and illegally travels to Denmark on a cargo ship. He arrives in a charming town with everything he needs, including an opportunity to commit a robbery. However, a kind local barmaid and a loyal stray dog make him question whether imprisonment is truly the path to a better life.
