Description:
Monday, August 18, 1969, 9:00 AM: As the day began at Woodstock, Jimi Hendrix took the stage. With hundreds of thousands already departed, 25,000 people remained for his performance. Hendrix, along with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox, played powerful versions of songs from The Experience ("Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady") and previews of his Band of Gypsys project ("Izabella," "Hear My Train A Comin'"), culminating in his iconic rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." While the festival featured many memorable performances, Hendrix’s set is widely considered its most significant moment.
