Description:
This film tells the story of Johnny Bode (1912-1983), a celebrated Swedish singer and performer known for his popular songs, operettas, and unconventional stage productions. Despite his success in Sweden and Europe, Bode is now largely forgotten due to his extraordinary, whirlwind, and often shocking life. His fascination with Nazism led to a brief arrest and detention in a Norwegian concentration camp. After the war, he settled in East Berlin, presenting himself as a supporter of the GDR before being deported back to Sweden. He then lived a life marked by petty crime and escapes, eventually finding work in Vienna, where he achieved further success creating new operettas under the name Juan Delgada. Bode died alone in Malmö in the summer of 1983, exhausted and abandoned.
