Description:
Techno icon Richie Hawtin has consistently prioritized the creative process in his music, from his early work with Decks, EFX, and the 909, through his Ableton-focused Closer To The Edit project, to his current turntableless Traktor setup. Known since his Plus 8 days as much for his network of labels, artists, and parties as for his distinctive CD booklet designs, Hawtin unified his diverse interests in 2009. He collaborated with artists from his Minus label to redefine collaboration among live electronic musicians, video artists, lighting designers, and DJs. The CONAKT series of concerts emerged from this collaboration, featuring Hawtin alongside DJs Magda and Troy Pierce, and producers Marc Houle, Heartthrob, and Gaiser, utilizing a multi-platform performance setup for shared performance.
