Seven Intellectuals in Bamboo Forest, Part IV (2006)

'Seven Intellectuals in Bamboo Forest' tells the story of seven gifted artists and poets from the Wei and Jin Dynasties: Ruan Ji, Ji Kang, Shan Tao, Liu Ling, Ruan Yan, Xiang Xiu, and Wang Rong. Known for their unconventional spirit, they would meet in a bamboo forest to drink, sing, and play music, seeking refuge from the world. Driven by a desire for individuality, freedom, and liberty, their talent and passion made them a significant group in Chinese history. The film's fourth part explores the concept of living on an isolated island, escaping the pressures of city life. Inspired by Chinese legend, the Peach Blossom Island represents the perfect place for unfettered thought and a life of freedom.
