Description:
"King of the Centre Forwards" is named after German soccer legend Tull Harder, a star for Hamburger Sport Verein in the 1920s. However, the film tells a fictional story: The son of a trade company director falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy American oil magnate. She believes he's only after her money and buys his father's company as revenge. The son's true passion is soccer, which is evident from the start. The film opens with a soccer game, and even an apple or crumpled paper becomes a makeshift ball. While other films promote soccer as "the sport of the century," "King of the Centre Forwards" focuses on the hero's father, who doesn't understand its importance and criticizes everyone for being "soccer crazy."
