Description:
Mečiar is director Tereza Nvotová's exploration of Vladimír Mečiar and his profound impact on Slovakia, as well as on Tereza's own life. Born a year after the fall of Czechoslovakia's communist regime, Tereza witnesses Mečiar's rise to power. A little-known lawyer from rural Slovakia, he unexpectedly becomes Minister of the Interior after a public audition. He then ascends to the country's highest political office, governing through controversial methods. Against a backdrop of major events like the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the kidnapping of the president’s son, Tereza and her generation revisit their formative years.
