Description:
In 1930s Shanghai, barber Lu Ping accidentally kills a Japanese officer and flees to the home of his master's brother, Song Fengnian, in a small town. He instantly falls in love with Song's daughter, Jiayi, who is already promised to an officer for security during the war. After the war's end, Lu is wrongly convicted of treason because Song collaborated with the Japanese. As he awaits execution, Jiayi saves him. Arranged by her husband, Lu becomes an officer, but he can't forget Jiayi or his old life. Following the Chinese Civil War, he's sent to work on a farm in the northwest, where he discovers Jiayi never left and has been waiting for him in their first meeting place. Lu resolves to find her.
