Description:
Li Ying's documentary *Aji (Dream Cuisine)* profiles Hatsue Sato, a master chef in her late seventies who preserves the traditional cooking of China's Shandong province. Hatsue and her husband, Koroku, operate a restaurant in Tokyo, but she yearns to return to her birthplace. The film follows her to Shandong, where she interviews for television and meets Liu Gwangwei, a modern culinary school president. When he struggles to replicate her classic recipes, Hatsue decides to remain in China to cook them herself. Her husband, Koroku, is unwilling to relocate.
