100 Days (2001)

The film follows a young couple, Bapiste and Josette. Josette insists on waiting until marriage for intimacy, believing they'll have unlimited lovemaking then. Simultaneously, escalating tensions erupt as Hutu leaders incite violence against Tutsi neighbors, urging Hutus to kill their Tutsi neighbors. As chaos spreads, the couple is separated amidst the ensuing violence. Seeking refuge, Josette and her family find themselves in a Catholic church overseen by a cruel priest. The Church, the government, and the French army remain indifferent as widespread slaughter occurs. Josette is forced into marriage with the priest and subjected to repeated rape. When the Belgian soldiers sent to protect the church are withdrawn, Hutus attack, massacring hundreds of women and children. Josette survives, but is deeply traumatized. As the Tutsis organize, they retaliate with brutal revenge.
