Unfinished Song (2001)

"Unfinished Song" follows Farhad (Ali-Reza Anoushfar), a young musicologist who travels to his native Khorasan province in Iran to document the area's traditional folk music. He learns that the once vibrant musical heritage is now diminished, with few songs performed due to a ban on women singing. Driven to find Heyran (Ghogha Bayat), a woman imprisoned for defying this ban, Farhad becomes determined to record her voice. Their encounters in jail unveil a hidden connection between their families and expose how Heyran's passion for music has led to a lifetime of hardship.
