Description:
East Germany, late 1970s. Fred and Jonas are inseparable ten-year-old friends living near the border with West Germany. When Jonas's mother applies to leave the country, the boys face the prospect of being separated. Determined to stay together, they plan to dig a tunnel to Australia, where they hope to reunite. But the night Jonas is scheduled to leave with his mother irrevocably changes everything.
