Description:
Set on an Icelandic island in 1913, this period drama follows Pétur (Gunnar Helgason) as he remembers the arrival of mainlanders for a wedding. Flirtatious Sirsa (Pálína Jónsdottir) marries Harald (Dofri Hermannsson), the son of a wealthy local landowner. Meanwhile, a ship is sinking offshore, prompting the men to form a rescue party. They return with the captain, the engineer, and other sailors. As a storm approaches, the engineer dies, and the clergyman asks for the festivities to end. Sirsa objects, but Harald brings the celebration to a halt. The group disperses, and Sirsa becomes increasingly drawn to the handsome Ívar (Baldur Trausti Hreinsson). The film features a score of traditional folk music.
