Description:
Set during the Greek Civil War in the midst of World War II, the film depicts the struggle of communist partisans against the pro-Western, monarchist government. The conflict occurred against a backdrop of growing tensions between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, stemming from the controversial IB resolution. This led the Yugoslav government to cease its support of Stalinist factions, and to recognize the Greek monarchists as the legitimate authority. To avoid public scrutiny of this ideological shift, Tito's government largely concealed its past involvement with the communist cause for decades.
