The Threepenny Opera (2000)

Mack (Mack the Knife), a notorious bandit known for his charm with women, finds himself in trouble with Jonathan Peachum when he marries Peachum's daughter, Polly, in a questionable ceremony. Peachum is determined to have Mack executed, but his plans are complicated by Mack’s close friendship with the police chief, Tiger Brown. Peachum and his wife then plot to trap Mack, attempting to get him arrested by bribing prostitutes, influencing the police, and threatening to disrupt Queen Victoria's coronation by gathering London's beggars for a protest parade. Mack is imprisoned, escapes, and is recaptured. Just as his execution is about to take place, a messenger arrives with a royal pardon, granting him a baronetcy and a substantial annual pension.
