Description:
When Daantje Pieters, the grocer's son, is drafted into the army, he becomes instantly smitten with a girl wearing a blue hat on the train to the barracks in The Hague. Once there, Daantje is taken under the wing of Toontje, a clever conman who offers to help him find his sweetheart. However, Toontje refuses to assist with any plans for an engagement, believing such things are inappropriate for soldiers.
