Description:

After the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan's military and government disagree on whether to accept the Allies' demand for unconditional surrender. Army Minister Anami leads officers who want to continue fighting, even if it means the deaths of all Japanese people. Emperor Hirohito, supported by his ministers, instead seeks a peaceful surrender. When the military plans a coup to overthrow the Emperor's civilian rule, Anami is forced to choose between his own ambitions and his loyalty to the Emperor.
