Description:
In early 1950s rural Sweden, young Elina returns to school after recovering from tuberculosis, the disease that claimed her father's life years before. Elina and her Finnish-speaking family face prejudice from a strict schoolmistress who relentlessly challenges Elina's questioning nature. Elina’s mother, sister, and a progressive young teacher attempt to resolve the conflict between Elina and Miss Holm. Seeking solace, Elina finds comfort in exploring the treacherous marshlands and imagining conversations with her deceased father. By Markku Kuoppamäki.
