Birds (2012)

In Haiti, years after the 2010 tsunami, theater director Gabriel Abrantes strives to create a faithful adaptation of Aristophanes' "The Birds." His overly precise approach, however, alienates the local community, who begin to resist his control. Abrantes’s reimagining weaves together fantastical narratives – wives becoming goats offered to gods – creating a vibrant blend of folklore, myth, and modern legends like Robert Patterson from Twilight. The result is a playful, reflective story where reality and imagination blur.
