Description:
In a strict Jewish Orthodox village in Israel, twelve-year-old Tamar prepares for her Bat-Mitzvah on Passover. She becomes convinced she is impure and, increasingly fearful and depressed, engages in a relentless cycle of cleaning to alleviate her anxiety, battling intrusive thoughts of guilt. Her friendship with Rachel leads her into risky behavior, including secretly observing the Mikveh (ritual bath) and defying Sabbath restrictions. The girls even secretly bathe at the Mikveh after Tamar's first period. Will Tamar be overwhelmed by her fears? This is a stark portrayal of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and the emotional struggles of adolescence.
