Description:
Based on his own experiences, novelist and filmmaker Jose Giovanni tells the compelling true story of his father's efforts to save him from execution. During World War II, Manu (Vincent Lecoeur, based on Giovanni himself) fought with the French Resistance. However, by the war's end, he turned to crime and was arrested in 1947 for his involvement in a botched robbery that resulted in a death. Though not the one who pulled the trigger, Manu refuses to identify the actual killer to protect his uncle, the only family member who has supported him. His brother is deceased, and he has estranged himself from his father, Joe (Bruno Cremer), for years. Sentenced to death despite maintaining his innocence, Manu's desperate attempts to escape prison fail to prove his claims.
