Description:
In August-September 1939, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin secretly agreed to divide Europe, paving the way for Germany's invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later, marking the start of World War II. As a result of the secret agreement, Finland became a target of attacks from the Soviet Union, beginning with the Winter War on November 30, 1939, and continuing with the Continuation War on June 25, 1941. Despite facing brutal conditions and a vastly superior enemy, Finland successfully maintained its independence.
