Description:
Set in late Soviet-era Turkmenistan, this somber drama follows Malyanov, a recent medical school graduate assigned to work there. He encounters a diverse group of people, all victims of the government's past policies of forced relocation and ethnic cleansing. These deeply unhappy individuals are unable to connect with each other, instead displaying hostility. They often resort to desperate acts in their futile attempts to cope with their suffering.
