Description:
In one of São Paulo's poorest favelas, Paula, Beatriz, Giu, and Fernando navigate a world of marginalization and despair while fighting for their rights as transgender people and striving to survive. Brazil has the highest annual number of transgender murders in the world. Choosing to express their gender freely is revolutionary and dangerous. It's an affirmation of who they are. One of them writes in his diary, "Each hormone pill is a declaration of ownership of my body. After each pill, I feel much better in my own skin." The film depicts their daily lives, struggles, and protests in a world where ignorance fuels oppression and hate—transphobia.
