Description:
This is a moving story about friendship, hardship, and achieving goals. The film follows two Somali soccer teammates as they pursue their dreams despite overwhelming challenges. Having lived through twenty years of war, seventeen-year-old Saadiq and nineteen-year-old Sa’ad, the team's top players, compete in the year's only televised game, hoping to attract the attention of scouts. With worthless passports, soccer offers them a potential escape from escalating violence, persecution, and poverty. Amidst fear and sacrifice, they each begin separate, unlikely journeys. Saadiq gets a chance to go to America for education and a soccer career. Sa’ad stays in Mogadishu, hoping to reunite with his friend one day. Their shared hope is to inspire future generations who have only known war.
