Description:
Hungarian physicist Leo Szilard emigrates to the U.S., where, with Albert Einstein's support, he convinces the government to initiate the development of an atomic bomb. The project is entrusted to the pragmatic General Leslie Groves, who appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer as the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico, the bomb's central development site. As World War II nears its end, Szilard begins to question the use of atomic weapons, prompting policymakers to grapple with the dilemma of whether and how to deploy the devastating new weapon.
