Description:
The city of Kyo is torn by conflict as different political groups fight for control against the ruling families. After her parents are murdered by her uncle, Kintoki escapes to the mountains and is taken in by villagers who rename her Kai Doh Maru. Raiko, captain of the city's peacekeeping force, "The Four Knights," rescues her and raises her as one of their own. She learns swordsmanship and becomes a skilled samurai, joining the Knights permanently. At seventeen, Kai begins to experience romantic feelings for Raiko, but these emotions ignite jealousy and anger in a woman connected to her past.
