Description:
This is a satirical look at the contradictions within middle-class life. A group of teachers in a village organize a play. When a cast member is absent, a local stagehand is brought in to fill the role. They hold an impromptu rehearsal, including a mock trial to teach the newcomer about legal proceedings. During the trial, Miss Benare is falsely accused of infanticide. The staged play then takes a dark turn when it's revealed Miss Benare is pregnant with the child of Professor Damle, the absent cast member, stemming from a past affair.
