Description:
This film chronicles the life of Bernhard Kimmel, a notorious burglar and bank robber dubbed the "Al Capone of the Palatinate" in the 1960s for his daring heists. Director Peter Fleischmann encountered Kimmel in 1970 after Kimmel's first lengthy prison term. They developed a friendship, and Kimmel continued his criminal activities until 1982, when a bank robbery resulted in a police officer being shot and another severely injured. This event strained their bond. Kimmel was sentenced to life, but released on parole after 22 years, at which point Fleischmann completed his portrait of the man.
