Description:
In May 1945, a woman in Marienbad claims Professor Lessing, a German emigrant, was murdered in 1933 and names the killer. Ignoring his superior's reluctance – the crime was a fascist act of femicide – Inspector Šedý investigates and arrests the German, Eckert. Eckert was a fugitive at the 1933 trial, and crucial evidence is now lost. Undeterred, Šedý gathers witnesses: anti-fascists and former collaborators seeking redemption. By reconstructing the crime scene, Šedý establishes Eckert's involvement as an accessory. He is convicted. Upon release, Eckert travels to West Germany to seek compensation from his former clients.
