Description:
Colonel Honorine Munyole, a strong forty-four-year-old widow and mother to seven children – four biological and three adopted – relies on her uniform, beret, and black handbag as a symbol of strength in her demanding job. She independently runs a small police unit protecting women from rape and children who have endured abuse in the war-torn Congo. The film begins with her transfer from Bukavu to Kisangani, where she finds her new office and home in a state of disrepair. While tackling these practical challenges with determination, she confronts the devastating realities of the people around her: the resentment surrounding those deemed victims, the yearning for assistance from Westerners, despair, and a pervasive sense of powerlessness.
