Description:

COINTELPRO 101 details the illegal surveillance, disruption, and killings carried out by the US government between the 1950s and 1970s. COINTELPRO was the FBI's counterintelligence program, designed to monitor, imprison, and eliminate leaders of social justice movements, as well as to undermine and dismantle those movements. Many of the government’s actions remain hidden. The film uses interviews with activists who lived through these abuses, along with rare historical footage, to offer an overview of this period of intense suppression and to highlight its continuing relevance today.
