"Amer & Nasser," an excerpt from a documentary about the 1991 Iraqi rebellion that became a massacre, offers a possible answer. The slow camera work doesn't allow us to truly know the two martyrs, but instead asks: Why did this happen, and where were we? Their blindfolded faces appear serene yet reveal a hidden anguish. The deliberate pacing emphasizes the condemned men’s final steps and the soldiers' forceful actions, as if lost in time. This slowing down draws us into their suffering. As they walk towards an army truck before the camera, a flute signals their transition from life to death, a journey into the unknown.
