Description:
Fourteen years after the Chernobyl disaster, the village of Budische remains isolated, a small community clinging to life 180 kilometers downwind of the reactor. Most residents evacuated, but 55 older people refused to leave, along with Alexei, a young man who wanted to stay with his parents. This is a quiet look at everyday life in Budische, narrated by Alexei himself. The village centers around a shared spring, the source of water for everyone and a place where women gather to do laundry outdoors.
