Description:

Melinda Howard, a talented singer who has been performing overseas, returns home to surprise her mother with a luxurious Manhattan mansion, believing her to be a celebrated Broadway star. Instead, she discovers her mother is a disillusioned cabaret singer with a fondness for whiskey. Upon arriving at the mansion, Melinda is greeted by two of her mother's friends who work as servants. The house belongs to Adolph Hubbell, a generous Broadway producer who becomes involved in the deception and develops an interest in Melinda, offering her a starring role in his upcoming production. Melinda also finds romance with a charming dancer who is part of the show. Despite the promising start, Melinda’s desire to finally reunite with her mother is repeatedly delayed.
