Description:
This documentary follows the Haisla people's fight to get their G'psgolox totem pole back. The pole disappeared from their village in British Columbia in 1929, and its whereabouts were a mystery for over 60 years. It was eventually found in a Stockholm museum, where the Swedish government now considers it theirs. Director Gil Cardinal uses interviews, powerful visuals, and footage of skilled carvers to explore questions about who owns Aboriginal artifacts in museums and what they represent.
