In BRUSHFIRES, a shy girl harboring secret feelings for her rocker-grrl housemate's life takes unexpected turns when she encounters an unstable heiress fleeing from her past. From Split Pillow, a Chicago-based film collective, this film presents a sensual story of suspense as the three women navigate complex relationships. Inspired by Jessica Wilbur's poem and the surrealist game The Exquisite Corpse, seven women directors each contributed a segment, building the film from individual word prompts. This ambitious filmmaking experiment explores themes of young desire, loss, and the complexities of love.
