Three immigrants seek fresh starts in Poland: an Afghan man haunted by war, a Ukrainian woman struggling with her identity, and a Belarusian woman fleeing a painful relationship. Azzam, the Afghan, works as a translator for the Polish army but carries the burden of being considered a traitor in his homeland. Evacuated to Poland, he's unable to escape the trauma of war. Wiera, the Ukrainian, comes to Poland for secret gender reassignment surgery, but a visit from her father and son forces her to confront questions about who she is. Żanna, the Belarusian, leaves her husband, a political dissident, and lives with her daughter in Warsaw, hoping to build a normal life. Her plans are disrupted when her husband is arrested again.
