Description:
In late 19th-century America, Professor John Mayer and his assistant, Dr. Isabel Reed, accidentally invent a powerful ray. An alien arrives on Earth with the mission to destroy the machine, fearing it poses a threat to the universe. To gain access to Mayer during a demonstration for scientists and the military, the alien initially inhabits the body of Thomas, a notorious sex offender and serial killer. Mayer's niece, Laura, meets Dr. Paul Rosten, a chemist whom Mayer then invites to join their research. As Thomas gets closer to Mayer, the alien takes over his mind to sabotage the device and steal its notes. Simultaneously, Thomas struggles to control his violent urges, attacking several women with a razor.
