The Back Steps (2001)

This film uses a brief scene from a children's Halloween party to explore the concept of time. Time is a central theme in my work, and *The Back Steps* exemplifies this interest. The visuals loop, yet also move forward. The sound, while incorporating looping elements, features a compositional structure that evolves throughout. I often envision pieces as overlapping arcs of varying lengths and heights, each representing a different duration. It's like a complex clockwork mechanism with numerous internal rhythms, all driving the hands steadily ahead.
