Description:
Set in March 1938, the film follows Carola Hell, a celebrated actress at Vienna's Theater in der Josefstadt, and Martin Hofmann, a Jewish journalist who is her fiancé. Their springtime world is full of hope as they try to avoid political involvement. However, their prominence and his religious identity make remaining detached impossible. Despite a warning from Martin’s friend Drechsler about the impending Nazi takeover of Austria, they prioritize their careers and personal happiness, choosing to disregard the danger.
