Description:
Karl Åge and Regitze throw a summer garden party for family and friends. Karl Åge is reserved, while Regitze is vibrant and full of life. He reflects on their beginnings: a wartime romance, living together without marriage, and her mother's protest when they refused to baptize their son. Regitze is outspoken and passionate; he recalls her inviting a troubled man over for Christmas, who arrived with a group of friends. He remembers her defending their son when his teacher physically punished him. He also thinks about her love of dancing and his worry that his own awkwardness might jeopardize their relationship. Now, in their later years, Karl Åge faces new challenges.
