Description:
Laxmi discovers an abandoned baby at a temple and takes him in. Her husband, Shankar, returns from prison, and they name him Ramu. Laxmi dreams of a good education for Ramu, while Shankar envisions a life of crime for him. Unable to succeed in school, Ramu works with his father, embracing a life of criminal activity. He meets Mala, and they fall in love. Mala urges him to leave his past behind, and he does, finding honest work. However, when Inspector Hemant shoots Laxmi during Shankar's arrest, Ramu is consumed by a desire for revenge. The film explores the consequences of this, focusing on the impact on Hemant's family and Mala, who watches Ramu succumb to the darkness she tried to prevent.
