The Apocalypse (2002)

Set in 90 AD, the film follows John of Patmos, the last surviving disciple of Jesus Christ, and his writing of the visions that make up the Book of Revelation. Emperor Domitian, claiming divine status, persecutes Christians who refuse to acknowledge him. John is exiled to the Roman mining colony on the island of Patmos, where he documents his visions and sends the "Revelation of God" to the seven churches of Asia Minor. Irene, from the church in Ephesus, is sent to Patmos to confirm John's survival and speak with him directly. The film illustrates scenes from Revelation and connects them to events unfolding within the churches of Asia Minor.
