Description:
After her son's death in a car accident, a grandmother receives his letters, meant for her, but she's afraid to read them due to her illiteracy. With the only adult literacy program closed, she begins teaching herself. Her granddaughter, Dong-e, her son’s adopted seven-year-old daughter, notices and tries to help. But Dong-e is also learning to read. Determined to learn, the grandmother enrolls in first grade at a local elementary school, and a tentative bond forms between them as they both navigate the alphabet together.
