Description:
It is 1896. In the Paraguayan jungle, a three-year-old Ache girl survives an attack by white settlers and is taken captive. The settlers name her Damiana and anthropologists from Argentina take her as a subject for racial studies. She is later given to a family and works as a maid. In 1907, at 14, she is sent to a mental institution where she is photographed nude just before dying of tuberculosis. After her death, her body is studied in Argentina and Berlin. A century later, an anthropology student identifies some of her remains in the La Plata museum, and her head is later discovered at Charite Hospital in Berlin.
