Description:
In the early 1920s, Han van Meegeren, a gifted but rebellious artist in Amsterdam, paints in the style of Rembrandt and Vermeer, but is dismissed by critics as a mere copyist. Determined to prove them wrong, he creates a fake Vermeer and successfully sells it as authentic. Rather than confess, he profits from a series of forgeries, becoming entangled in a dangerous web of lies. His life spirals out of control when Hermann Göring, a high-ranking Nazi official, seeks him out to purchase a Vermeer for his personal collection.
